52k in 52 Weeks: Official Thread

On January 1st 2009 I began a challenge I set myself. The aim being that there are 52 weeks (Or close to) in the year and that at the end of this period I should of achieved a respectable score of 52,000 gamerpoints. This isn't really a race to 52,000 in the sense that I have to get as many points as I can from each game. One of the aims I set myself was not to exceed 70,000 total gamerpoints from all the games I played. If you do the maths for that it means that from each retail game I have to manage an average of 743 gamerpoints which is along way to completing most games. In some cases this is an easy target but in others it isn't and that's what makes this so fun.

The logic of 52,000 as a target is that this equates to roughly completing one game a week. Obviously this isn't by rights true since arcade games can make up the number too and these are technically full games but you can probably get where I'm coming from on this.

The rules I set out with this in mind are as follows:

+ To not exceed 70,000 total gamerpoints before hitting 52k.
+ To avoid the use of easy achievement games (Avatar ect) to an acceptable level. *Ammended to say acceptable*
+ To not use any glitches to achieve achievements
+ To complete at least 15 retail games to 1000/1000 and 10 arcade games to 200/200.


Personal Targets include:

+ Achieve 1000/1000 on Fallout 3
+ Achieve 900/1000 on Fifa 09
+ Achieve 1000/1000 on Mirrors Edge

As for the games I'll play there are a number in mind though I would appriciate if you guys helped pick some of them.

+ Bioshock
+ Lost Odyssey
+ Bully
+ Orange Box
+ WWE Smackdown 2009
+ F1 Game (Whenever it comes out)


How can you help?

I want you to get involved to tell me what to play. It's fine if I play games I know and like (Bioshock ect) but I want you to nominate games you liked which might be worth a look in here. Eventually I will hit a wall on the games I like and thus will begin playing games you nominate. In some cases (Like with Prince of Persia) I'll even make exception and play them sooner.
