One is for my brother. I only bought the PS3 version because you can use any controller on it unlike the 360.

Ah, 'k. I want to get a FightPad at some point. Supers and Ultras are going to be impossible on the normal pad...

Does anyone know where to get a FightStick by the way? I wanted to look into one for the 360 but everywhere I looked they were out of stock and costing over 100 quid :S

Everyone seems to be out of stock. Go to Game and ask for a preorder, they should have one in store at least.

The plan is to just get the game and wait for my brothers to come round. I really need to find a save file for the PS3 version of the game as my brother plays as Gouki and I'm not wasting about an hour trying to unlock characters. I could unlock the characters using the way that was posted on so many sites but I'm not going to do that.

I don't get it.. unless the joke is that you're such a retard that you thought Street Fighter was a beat 'em up? Or maybe you just don't understand this game is called Street Fighter IV and not the original Street Fighter.

I beg your pardon.

What the fuck are you talking about? Street Fighter (every one of the series) is a beat 'em up. Beat 'em up being a sub genre of the fighting game genre. I think it's a perfectly reasonable description.

I don't like beat em ups/fighting games. So what? Why the hostility?

(All information has been taken from Wikipedia)

Beat 'em ups are a distinct genre, separate from fighting games. There are several distinguishing features. Beat 'em ups take place over a large level, with the screen scrolling as the player moves through the stage. Competitive fighting games have evolved to include a greater variety of attacks that the player can use, while beat 'em ups offer fewer attacks with a simpler control scheme.

Fighting games are a type of action game, where two characters fight one-on-one. These games typically feature special moves that are triggered by the rapid sequence of buttons, and have traditionally shown the fighters from a side-view, even as the genre has progressed to 3D. Though it was not the first fighting game, the conventions of the genre were popularized and standardized by Street Fighter II and similar games released prior to Street Fighter II have since been more clearly classified as fighting games. Games involving one-on-one fighting using weapons, rather than unarmed combat, are also considered part of the genre.

It's a perfectly wrong description.

Re: Street Fighter IV

Post by Mercury's Phoenix on Wed Feb 18, 2009 2:06 pm

Oh, check out this news article:

http://www.pushingplay.com/2009/02/18/street-fighter-producer-is-eager-to-pump-out-more-sf-iv/

"In an interview with Yoshinori Ono , the producer of SF IV, he says that T. Hawk and Dee Jay, the two missing characters from the Super Street Fighter 2 cast, had completed 3D models and were having their move set fleshed out when they stopped production on them for reasons he doesn’t mention."

"Yoshinori Ono says that he’s eager to do a SF IV: Championship Edition that would contain the lost characters, as well as potentially adding even more bulk to the already substantial cast."

I always wondered why they left out Dee Jay and T. Hawk considering they were aiming to celebrate SFII in the new instalment. Dee Jay could certainly hold his own in SFII, and whilst T. Hawk wasn't perfect he still was unique in his own right. Both would have worked very well in IV.

Also, there hasn't been any love for Street Fighter III in IV. It perhaps was the wrong direction for the franchise, but it still has its own group of core fans who would want it to be recognised. Alex was the poster boy for the game - maybe he should have made the call? The series has a few characters who would have fit in well.

Would you be happy with Capcom releasing a new edition(s) of the game with more content, much like Street Fighter II? If they did, do you think they would consider releasing this extra content through DLC? I'd be happy for them to turn Street Fighter IV into a franchise in its own right, but only if they didn't leave buyers of the original in the dark. For me to buy a new edition, it'd have to have more than a few new characters in it. If that was all it was, I'd expect to be able to download them from Marketplace rather than shelling out another £30.

If this idea was to go ahead, which characters would you want to see? I'd want Dee Jay and T. Hawk for definite; Alex, Elena, Ibuki, Hugo and Makoto from Street Fighter III; and Eagle and Ingrid from the Alpha series.

Re: Street Fighter IV

Post by AndyMatronic on Wed Feb 18, 2009 6:27 pm

Apparently mine should be here tommorow - so excited x3

And yeah I do think DLC opens up lots of possibilites instead of releasing new seperate games, gameplay balancing can be done by patches, and new characters can be downloadable, it's what I love about XBL.

I'm not bothered about T.Hawk but I do like using DJ, he's like the male Chun-Li for me.
He would have been so cool .

And I have Anniversary Collection which has Third Strike on it and though I don't think the characters are as iconic, I've gradually come to love a few of them, and I think there should have been some representation in SFIV.

Ibuki is probably the most popular and she's kind of like the staple ninja of the series, plus there needs to be more females in the roster anyway.
She could work well, and I have CvsSNK2 which Yun stars in and I've always thought him and Yang were really cool characters so I wouldn't mind seeing them in there either. And Elena is unique by using kicks only.
And Alex I guess, even though he's a bit boring to me.

But yeah I'd like to see Yun, Yang, Elena, Ibuki and Alex in 3D :3

Oh and FTR, Eagle and Ingrid were just PSP characters ported from other games.
Ingrid appears in Capcom Fighting Jam originally and Eagle was from SF one ;3
I quite like Eagle though D:

*can't wait for tommorow*
