EDIT - Nevermind, just the songs are rumoured. Have to admit I look forward to this in many ways...

As I never had 80's or GH1 there'll be some new songs, and there are songs I'd like to play on other instruments, but regardless of that it is still a blatant cash-in that I'll end up buying.

Yeah, its a cash-in, but they're out to make money and provided they keep making fairly enjoyable games I'll still buy them. Provided they use a good amount of songs from all the previous games, all masters, it should be good fun to play some of the older songs as a band, and like I say, some from the original with a better HO/PO system. I mean lets face it, really Aerosmith and Metallica are just cash-ins to provide a bit of extra money before the next full game is released, but the design of Aerosmith wasn't bad (even though the songs were easy and boring as hell), and Metallica should be great really, all because of the band choice. Yes, they're cashing in on the series, but I still find it fun so it doesn't bother me too much.

Wonder why they havent included anything from World Tour, add some of the relatively challenging stuff from WT, there were some good songs on there eg: Scream, Aim and Fire, BYOB and Satch Boogie.

Do not, at any point, compare it to a real instrument. It may be shaped like one, but that's like saying have sex with a doll is "getting laid."

That would make you both rather sad, and an idiot.

I think the idea of Greatest Hits is to allow people to play songs from previous Guitar Hero games as a band, hence why it'll only include songs from previous games.

I've played guitar hero for years and I still enjoy real guitar as well. Works both ways.

The fact of the matter is that some people are happier to instantly play a song and feel like a guitarist, than to learn it on a real guitar. For example, it would take years to play free bird on a real guitar, where as guitar hero you can play it and feel a sense of achievement.

Ultimately, the main reason I play guitar hero games is because they are fun, and do give you a fake sense of playing it on a guitar.

Of course you can compare guitar hero to a real guitar, like you can compare fifa to football, gran turismo to driving etc. Of course it won't emulate the real thing, yet it is still FUN, just because it lacks 6 strings, 22 frets and isnt played with a plectrum, doesnt mean it isnt fun. If I want to just play a few songs, I'll play guitar hero, If I want a proper sense of achievement I will try to learn some/all of that song on a real guitar.

I was playing Beast and the Harlot yesterday and my brother walked in and said:

"You can play this on real guitar, why are you playing this?"

I play for a higher score and leader boards, that's it.

I play for the enjoyment and for a sense of achievement, yet I understand fully that playing the real guitar is much harder, I like the bragging rights against my friends when I beat there high score etc.

You're still an idiot mate.

You're trying to say people use Guitar Hero as an easy replacement for a real instrument, if ANYONE does that, they're a complete idiot.

Guitar Hero = Game
Guitar = Instrument

Seperate the two and THEN we're getting somewhere.

And, you're also talking asif I've never played a game before, when I play Guitar Hero in Expert mode rather easily. Razz

Why are they idiots? People are inclined to do whatever the hell they want, and games like guitar Hero are the reason why the music industry is still alive. Lots of people I know play guitar hero for fun, not to pretend they're Van Halen. Frankly, the mass market is more interested in just playing a few songs on Guitar hero for half an hour, than spending years learning to play a real instrument. Call it sad if you want to, but I can guarantee you that 99% of people who play Guitar Hero play it for fun, not to cover up an inability to play an instrument. Heck you see loads of people on youtube prancing about like fools playing the game, thinking they're rock legends, but at the end of the day it's fun.

And I'm not talking to you like you've never played a game before. But If you want the opportunity to point out you play guitar hero on expert, then do it in a pro face-off or something.

In other news, I played raining blood for the first time in ages a couple of days ago and got 222k. That was with a miss in mosh 2 under SP, and a miss in hard rain. I reckon I can get the 5* pretty damn soon if I dont keep making silly mistakes, but now I'm fcing the first half of mosh 1, and sometimes I fc the entire bridge. Once i have one consistent run the achievement is mine.

You just have to practice the SP path sections, and know where to use them.

Thats what stopped me from 5* Raining Blood for song long, not getting a constistent run. Bar the Flood at one point I had FC'd every part of that song (yes, even Mosh 1 on a few occasions), but I couldn't never do it all under one run. My tips are:

100% the song up until Mosh 1, if you miss, restart. Use the first SP you get, then save it until Mosh 2 (hopefully you got all 3 phrases but its not necessary). Make sure you 100% Mosh 2, then basically do your best from there. As long as you handle the Bridge well, you should get it. The next star power for the Flood always helps, I think I got it on my 5* run. Keep trying and you'll get it eventually considering how close you've been.

I do 2,3 generally. 2 in hard rain, then 3 in mosh 2 on the third lot of 3 note chords.

I'm shit at GH, I admit it. I can't even do all of Hard on GH3. Doesn't stop me from picking it up on occasion and playing a few songs on medium just for the fun of it.

I'll probably get this just because I never had the chance to play GH1 or 80's. Curse my Nintendo fanboyism.

You are trying to say, and you've pointed this out a number of times, that people play Guitar Hero for instant gratification, in and you've also said this several times, because they'd rather play Guitar Hero and do a song rather simply, instead of spend years learning real guitar.

That is where YOU are an idiot.

But of course, the thing is, you understand my point entirely, yet are still trying to argue...

People play Guitar Hero FOR FUN because it is A GAME, and yet you go on about people playing it simply because it's easier than real guitar, over and over.

And, Guitar Hero being the reason the music industry is still alive?

Seriously, you are mentally retarded.

People play Guitar Hero because it's a fun game to play, if anyone actually plays it with the kind of; "I'm playing this instead of a guitar and it makes me just as good lol" mentality, then yes, they're complete and utter fucking idiots.

I think I made my point very clear in my frist post.

Guitar Hero = Game
Guitar = Instrument

People can mess about on GH as much as they like, as long as they don't seriously think that it does in any way replace a real instrument.

SIMPLEZ.

Precisely, much like DDR isnt DDR without the dancemat etc.

And really, if they were going to try make the guitar hero controller realistic, they would need 132 buttons and 6 strum bars at least.
